Unified Ruleset for European Union Transit & Tourism
You MUST submit your application to the consulate of the country where you will spend the maximum number of nights. If staying equal nights across countries, apply to the country of your first entry. "Embassy Shopping" (applying to an easier country for slots) can lead to deportation or border refusal.
QID Validity: Must be valid for at least 3 months after your scheduled departure from the Schengen zone.
Salary Certificate: Must be stamped, details your salary, profession, joining date, and addressed to the respective Embassy. A "To Whom It May Concern" certificate from the Metrash app is highly recommended.
Bank Statement: 3 to 6 months of active bank statements stamped by the bank. Keeping a healthy balance (minimum 10,000 QAR to 15,000 QAR) increases approval odds.
Company Registration: Copy of the company's Commercial Registration (CR) / Commercial License and the Establishment Card (Computer Card).
Map your itinerary to pinpoint the main destination country according to the nights-spent rule.
Secure a slot at the official VFS center in Doha. Slots are highly seasonal, especially during summer months.
Purchase travel medical insurance covering the entire Schengen area with a minimum coverage of €30,000 (approx. 120,000 QAR).
Extract 3-6 months bank statements, obtain stamped employment/salary letters, and compile relevant financial records.
Visit VFS, pay fees (~90 EUR + service fee), enroll biometrics, and submit physical file.
Combined Tourist and Business Visa with Long Validity
B1/B2 interview slots at the US Embassy in Doha usually have moderate wait times (typically 30 to 90 days). Keep this in mind when planning your travel.
You may bypass the physical interview if renewing a US visa of the same category that expired within the last 48 months. You simply submit your documents at a designated collection center.
Ties to Home Country: The consular officer assumes you want to immigrate. Your main objective is proving strong family, property, or career ties to your country of residence (Qatar) to show you will return.
DS-160 Consistency: Make sure your spoken answers during the interview exactly match the details submitted in your DS-160 form. Discrepancies lead to immediate administrative processing (Form 221g).
Fill out the online DS-160 form accurately. Keep your application ID safe, as details must match interview answers.
Register on the visa scheduling portal and pay the non-refundable $185 MRV application fee in local currency.
Schedule two appointments: one for Biometrics at the Visa Application Center (VAC) and one for the Consular Interview.
Arrive at the US Embassy/Consulate with your passport, DS-160 confirmation page, and interview confirmation. Answer concisely and honestly.
Completely Digital Application & Self-Upload System
Since the UK decision-maker will never see you in person (there is no interview), the clarity and strength of your uploaded documents is paramount. Keep bank statements clean, highlight salary deposits, and write a solid cover letter detailing your day-to-day itinerary.
No sponsorship required for high salaries: If you are an expat with a salary above 15,000 QAR, your own bank balance is sufficient. Ensure you upload your QID (translated if not in English).
Fill out the online application form and pay the visa fee online using a credit/debit card.
You will be redirected to VFS Global to schedule an appointment for passport submission and biometrics.
Self-upload your scanned letters, financial statements, and accommodation proof directly on the VFS website before your appointment.
Visit VFS Global with your passport and checklist. They will scan your passport, take your fingerprints and iris scan, and ship the passport to the Embassy.

Canada typically issues visas valid up to the expiration date of your passport (up to 10 years). Therefore, if your passport is expiring in a year, it is highly recommended to renew it before applying for a Canada visa to maximize your visa duration.
